Sensory Ethnography and New Media
The Ethnographic Museum of Istria has initialised the project Sensory Ethnography and New Media in partnership with the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, Serbia, the organisation soundimageculture (SIC) from Brussels, Belgium and five universities (The Academy of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb, Free University of Berlin, Aarhus University, University of Ljubljana and University of Belgrade) and regional intangible cultural heritage experts. The aim of the project is to present the opportunities for synergy of sensory ethnography, new media and modern technologies in recording, interpretation and presentation of intangible heritage and the culture of the everyday.
Throughout the two-year series of workshops, lectures and field research ten selected students from fives universities will work on producing an interactive on-line map that will function as an on-line archive and at the same time give an opportunity for broader audiences to learn about intangible heritage in Croatia and Serbia. The workshop will be presented and managed by Laurent van Lancker.
