The Ethnographic Film Festival in Rovinj is, by its vocation, the venue where ideas and creative individuals meet. The biographies and projects of the latter create an interactive platform on which films are shown and workshops are held to merge the living reality and the complex theory of interpretation of the contemporary present. In this spirit, last year’s Etno Film Festival has launched the cooperation with the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka.
Young future artists, students of Sculpture, one of the Applied Arts study programmes, have again accepted the invitation to create the visual component of Festival awards. This years jury – Lara Badurina, Associate Professor; Assistant Professor Hrvoje Urumović; Senior Assistant Darija Žmak Kunić and Dražen Vitolović, Research Assistant – decided that the competition will be of an invitation character. Third year in a row, awarded composition is made in the medium of ceramics, and the chosen student is Rino Banko, who singled out not just because of the visual solution of the reward, but because of his long lasting dedication to different Academy projects.
The Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka is glad to be presented by the students at this creative on this international media festival taking place in the region. Hoping to develop creativity in the students of the Academy, we look forward to new challenges which could be born from the continuing future cooperation.
