Clara Kleininger was born in 1991 in Bucharest. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in Social Antrophology in Austria, Kleininger went to Mexico as an exchange student and then enrolled in a graduate study programme in Visual Anthropology at the Granada Centre in Manchester. After two documentary films about the Jamaican community in Manchester, in her third film she turned to the East describing a special relationship between Moldova and Japan.
The Good Day takes us to Chiṣinǎu where a Moldovan woman named Lidija and her Japanese husband Masato run an unusual wedding agency which matches Moldovan women with men from Japan. We also follow the story of Nadia and Xenia who are preparing for their wedding and new life with their Japanese suitors.
